....no, i don't believe so!
yesterday seemed kinda weird, let me tell you about it, and then you can decide if it was random - or God just doing His thing:)
i headed into work first thing. i'm always alone the first hour. i fixed myself some oatmeal, put things away from youth group last night and sat down to send some emails. while trying to open gmail, my mouse (remember my computer story - well, the mouse i have to use is quite unpredictable!) did a jump on me and i opened a blog i read sometimes. no biggy - i guess i'll just read this first. it happened to mention the book "radical" by david platt. hmm...i've heard a lot about this book.
then the pastor rolled in, then the administrative assistant rolled in. the phone rang and as i walked into the office i heard her tell whoever was on the phone to "keep your head up." when i sat down she asked if i knew of "denise" from mcdonalds? umm...nope - nor do i even know a "denise". so a man called saying "denise" from mcdonalds told him our pastor would help him and he was desparate. he wanted our aa to call mcdonalds and get the rest of the story. so she does....long story short - new christian, life is a mess, wonders why if God is so good his life is still a mess, trying to run away from relationship here and start over. our pastor heads out to meet with him.
in the mean time....another call comes in from someone who had a husband just walk out on her and now she needs help with rent. our sweet aa directs her to someone in the community. then spends some time trying to find other places for her and calls her back.
i ask the pastor if he has heard of the book radical. he says "yes, in fact someone just gave it to me to read." a few minutes later he brings me the book.
i have lunch with a wonderful friend to discuss our operation christmas child program. what would you do if you had $20 in your pocket? we also talk about another friend who is trying to make a new start and is being bullied by a landlord....
"Lord, what is going on here today?"
"umm...the same thing I've been stirring in your heart. you asked Me to open your eyes. now what are you going to do about it?"
"well............."
i start reading radical last night.
my niece has her baby.
