last week i mentioned we had been out car shopping. well, on friday we took the plunge and bought a car! it was the second one we test drove and i had fallen for it right away. sounds silly doesn't it? but oh so true!
i have had a great disdain for the mini-van. the summer i lived in wheaton, il everywhere i looked there was a mini-van loaded with kids and sports decals. i just couldn't deal with. i called my mom and said, "i will never own one of those!" as our kids grew older, and thanks to indiana law, have needed to remain in carseats for eternity it was impossible to car pool or invite a friend along. we could only fit our family in either of our vehicles.
much to my disliking, i heard myself mention a mini-van to hubby! i know every mom always loves them, but well, i just wasn't quite there yet. however, we needed more space and those giant suv's were not in our budget. but God is so good, (i mean this because i believe He loves to delight His children) and someone invented this car called the freestyle, or the new taurus. they are a delightful car that has a 3rd row that really functions and a lot of storage space.
so this week, we bought the freestyle and will begin making car payments for the first time in over 8 years. i don't like the payment idea, but i love the new car idea! it is used, but a great car that should last us for quite some time. sorry, hubby, that you weren't able to get your truck. one thing at a time.
just so you all know...i'd been driving a 1994 explorer that i treasured with all my heart. it was a christmas gift 5 years ago from hubby. princess was about 5 months old and screamed her head off 24 hours a day. i'm not exagerating!! we only had one car and it was winter which meant i stayed in the house all day every day. not fun for mapboy and me. in my desperation, hubby surprised me with the explorer and while it was most definitely showing its age, it served me well. i treasured that car greatly...
but i'll enjoy the blessing of this one!!!!
