odds and ends

so i vowed to keep this updated more for my dear friend. i guess she feels like she will suffer withdrawal or something. needless to say i'm not off to a good start. so even though i'm ready to have couch time with hubby i'm going to fill you all in with a few odds and ends to the past 5 days...

1. my aunt died on saturday. my other aunt is obviously here and i haven't seen her for about 12 years. it has been fun to see her and introduce my family to her.

2. also on saturday we spent the day in michigan (minus the kids) with some old friends. walked the pier, ate ice cream, and yummy hamburgers!! topped it off with starbucks on the way home with a very friendly barista!

3. began summer - day 1 was good, day 2 was good, day 3 - well, summer is starting to hit!

4. put together a schedule and chore chart - already failed to keep at it today, but there were some family issues that took precedence!

5. realized if i want to go around the block with my kiddos on their bikes i now have to jog. still pondering that one.

6. rejoiced that there is a brief pause in the presidential campaign and rejoiced with mapboy that obama won!

7. made mapboy's appointment with the OT! woo hoo!!! praying for some help there!

8. did the library today - along with 2 day cares and several other families. need to figure all that out!

so - there you have it. nothing too exciting, but busy nonetheless....

the "calling"

okay - so it's been awhile since i've ranted...and it's time! it is beautiful outside and i'm sitting inside my makeshift office at the church. i am lucky enough to have a door that opens to the outside so it is wide open and i'm loving that. but as i'm working here today i feel the need to rant so enjoy.... being in my position i often have to ask people to help out. you know, volunteer to teach or work in the nursery or teach or hang out with the kids, you know - volunteer! i love all the responses i get. i am particularly fond of the "i don't like kids one" - it doesn't go over real well with me when they have 3 of their own. hmm??? but the one that really gets my goat is the "i don't feel called to that." argh...really!?!?!!?!? well, i didn't feel called to wipe my kids bottoms either, but it is a good thing i did it anyways. surprisingly, everyone feels called to the waterpark though! now, let me back up a ...
