a few of my favorite things...

i have struggled to put together thoughts on 2008. for me it was a year of extremes...extreme emotions and extreme changes. i've learned so many lessons and have so many more to learn. i have failed at many things and seen success in others. but as i reflect, i can honestly say 2008 was good.

i thought i'd put together a few lists for 2008...

favorite new finds: facebook, mapmyrun, freedom, sparkpeople, achievement

favorite books: the shack, blue like jazz, velvet elvis, kathy herman series

favorite blessings: friendships: new and old, health, ministry opportunities, game nights

favorite times: westward ho vacation, working beside my hubby, mondays at starbucks, couch time, celebrating 10 years of marriage, the sieber reunion with my cousins, crossing the finish line at my first 5k

favorite places: tetons, gilette wyoming, starbucks, holiday world, new harmony

favorite things learned: God will not disappoint, God is faithful, how to be simple, how to love deeper, how to persevere

me, on politics

i despise politics. i never liked it, but i married a man fascinated with it. a man who wanted to be part of it all...and was, briefly. boy were our eyes opened... anyways...it seems like this election has several hot button topics. one of which is universal healthcare. my cousin started a blog called politics for mom and there have been several heated debates going on. i was reading several comments on healthcare. and frankly i was bothered! now, i don't know that a strict universal healthcare is the answer, but i do know that we have now doesn't work for the average person. here is our story.... hubby worked in a small business - 3 employees at the most that i can remember. we paid 1/2 our insurance..until it came to the point where our half each month was twice what we would pay if we were on our own. but for the owner it saved him money. so he agreed to cover ours in full. we were very grateful. i also know at times, that because of the healthcare cost, it was a struggle f...

the "calling"

okay - so it's been awhile since i've ranted...and it's time! it is beautiful outside and i'm sitting inside my makeshift office at the church. i am lucky enough to have a door that opens to the outside so it is wide open and i'm loving that. but as i'm working here today i feel the need to rant so enjoy.... being in my position i often have to ask people to help out. you know, volunteer to teach or work in the nursery or teach or hang out with the kids, you know - volunteer! i love all the responses i get. i am particularly fond of the "i don't like kids one" - it doesn't go over real well with me when they have 3 of their own. hmm??? but the one that really gets my goat is the "i don't feel called to that." argh...really!?!?!!?!? well, i didn't feel called to wipe my kids bottoms either, but it is a good thing i did it anyways. surprisingly, everyone feels called to the waterpark though! now, let me back up a ...
