all in a morning

so i woke up this morning and went for a run. i'm trying to run the 5k route 2-3 times a week until the blueberry. i had an amazing time this morning which did a lot to lift my soul! then i got home and all was still quiet....love that! i pulled out the cereal, helped hubby finish clearing off our kitchen counter and sat down to cool off....

i think at one point hubby told me to get dressed..i was just still in my yucky smelly running clothes....i don't understand what he was thinking.

oh wait...maybe it had to do with the fact that this morning my kitchen looked like this

now it looks a little different...once again, our house is filled with contractor friends. i love this phase - hate the mess and am really missing the ability to sneak into the kitchen for a piece of dark chocolate - although i could probably crawl under the ladder and over the tools and squeeze between the 2 to open the freezer just enough to reach my hand in - hmmm...

anyways...they had arrived and i had not yet cooled down enough to shower. this is where i get a little funny. we only have one working bathroom - and frankly only one shower. this shower is located just off the dining room which is where our kitchen is. so i always feel a little funny taking a shower with strange men in the very next room. i love our old house..

so shower time came - i could hardly stand my smell anymore so i knew noone else could. i gathered my clothes and pulled the door shut. we have this little latch to lock it and i wanted to be sure i was safe so i put the latch on...oh goody, our door has either one too many layers of paint or it is swollen and guess what it won't lock....oh well, i still need to shower so in i go!

the kids are watching tv when i go in the bathroom...and you know it is just like the kids to always need you when you are in the bathroom. so yes, while i'm in the shower princess is calling for me. she has to hear the water, plus i told them what i was doing! so i feel only slightly embarrassed that i'm yelling back while standing in the shower with 2 construction men on the other side of the door.

but alas, i'm done in the shower, dressed, doors open and all is well. except i've been trying to explain to mapboy that even though his bedroom is completely opposite of the kitchen, his power, and only his, is attached to the same circuit as the kitchen which they have shut off. i am so not good with this stuff...

but i can't wait for the finished project - and it isn't nearly as bad as kori has had it!

oh yeah - i also have 4 dozen cupcakes to make, one birthday cake, and an appetizer to take to friends tonight.....this could be fun!

stay tuned for kitchen updates...but i gotta warn you - our projects take years to finish. we started this one in april of 08! we don't like to make rush decisions around here...something about slow and steady stays the course!

me, on politics

i despise politics. i never liked it, but i married a man fascinated with it. a man who wanted to be part of it all...and was, briefly. boy were our eyes opened... anyways...it seems like this election has several hot button topics. one of which is universal healthcare. my cousin started a blog called politics for mom and there have been several heated debates going on. i was reading several comments on healthcare. and frankly i was bothered! now, i don't know that a strict universal healthcare is the answer, but i do know that we have now doesn't work for the average person. here is our story.... hubby worked in a small business - 3 employees at the most that i can remember. we paid 1/2 our insurance..until it came to the point where our half each month was twice what we would pay if we were on our own. but for the owner it saved him money. so he agreed to cover ours in full. we were very grateful. i also know at times, that because of the healthcare cost, it was a struggle f...

the "calling"

okay - so it's been awhile since i've ranted...and it's time! it is beautiful outside and i'm sitting inside my makeshift office at the church. i am lucky enough to have a door that opens to the outside so it is wide open and i'm loving that. but as i'm working here today i feel the need to rant so enjoy.... being in my position i often have to ask people to help out. you know, volunteer to teach or work in the nursery or teach or hang out with the kids, you know - volunteer! i love all the responses i get. i am particularly fond of the "i don't like kids one" - it doesn't go over real well with me when they have 3 of their own. hmm??? but the one that really gets my goat is the "i don't feel called to that." argh...really!?!?!!?!? well, i didn't feel called to wipe my kids bottoms either, but it is a good thing i did it anyways. surprisingly, everyone feels called to the waterpark though! now, let me back up a ...
