the back door

whizboy is all about sports, you know? this fall he started talking about becoming a sports broadcaster and talked and talked and talked. so we mentioned to our local guy that whizboy might be interested in seeing how it is done. last night was his big chance!!! we headed off to senior night where whizboy got to see all that went into being live on the radio. he was taken into the locker room to meet the team and then able to read the records on air. as the game came to an end he made his picks for play of the night and player of the night. he differed with his play, but the rest was right on! he was then able to close out the post game show with reading the high scores! here he is getting the headset on! it cracked us up because he is SOOOO animated at home while watching a game, but his nerves got the best of him and he spoke so calmly and quietly! a big thanks out to our local station - only in small town america will a great guy give this young boy a chance to live his dream

i had the opportunity to head to a conference a few weeks ago. i was going to be gone ALL WEEK!!! woo hoo! well, kind of. it was one intense conference full of information that challenged me, convicted me and encouraged me in my pursuit of counseling! anways...this year i'm doing project 365. a project where i take a picture each day and scrapbook it. knowing hubby would be lost without his camera for the week i left my 2 budding photographers in charge. i assigned them days. well, i guess princess kind of "hogged" the assignment and that whizboy just didn't seem to take the initiative.... so anyways - not quite what i expected but here is the sneak peak of the weak through her lens.... an action shot of oscar in the sunlight...a rare treat for him these days! some game playing....although i just realized this is me so i'm not sure when she took this. i think i lost:) another shot of oscar cuddled with her bear and kitty... i guess the album will have a we

so mrs. wacky witmer let me know she missed looking in my back door. maybe the rest of you do too, so i thought i'd bring you up to speed with a series of posts over the next couple of days:) first off....hubby recently spent an hour or so sharing with whizboy's 4th grade class all about the michigan road. i'm not sure who was more excited! as he was preparing for that princess learned she needed to interview one of her parents about their job and then do a power point presentation. sure she wanted to ask me she let me know that my job wasn't nearly as exciting as daddy's and it was all about him!! really? is it just that he can wear pajamas to work? above she is conducting her interview! as a window into my selfishness extreme.....when hubby was on city council he had meetings almost every week. being a mom that lives for my kids early bedtimes there were 2 options on meeting nights...and extra early bedtime or the kids could stay up 30 minutes late if they

so we got hit with the blizzard of 2011 around here. while i'm not so sure it was the "epic storm of the decade" it was pretty impressive, but lacked about 10 inches of snow! we were snowed in here on the hill. a plow made one lane on our road early this morning and our local plowing friend dug out our driveway. so while we were home for a day here are some pics of our fun: whiz boy cuddled under the blanket with oscar....although he was reading up on log cabins for his pioneer project! princess munched on her pizza and raisins while reading still in her pajamas at lunch time:) and of course some valentines cookies!! we also: - made caramel corn - lost twice in blokus to whizboy - successfully sunk all his battleships - made a grocery list -shoveled out our cars (well hubby did that) -made brownie pudding cake with princess for dessert -watched a show on the lincoln highway -watched the news over and over and over - watched a hawk eat the mouse he caught in our front y
