unusual obsession

last night was a typical thursday night around here. okay, not really. it started with the dishwasher. most of you know i like dishwashers, but the one we have doesn't dispense soap. i guess that makes it kinda worthless. i've complained, yes i admit it, that if i can't use it i'd rather put a cabinet in. hubby said that would cost more than a new dishwasher. but we have never bought one because of choosing to spend our money elsewhere. frankly, i can always wash dishes. well, my parents are gutting their kitchen and offered us theirs!! woo hoo!!! so everyone said this was simple. hmmm..nothing is ever simple inside our back door. the dishwasher was attached to our countertop. but good thing - we had a new counter top put in last week. that girl should slide right out!! nope....they built the floor up over the bottom. so it still sits in it's spot and my working one sits in our barn. oh well...fix dinner and move on!

dinner fixed, homework done, now on to pumpkin carving. rather uneventful and pleasant. now on to bedtime....ah...peace and actually after a long discussion with princess about expectations and priviledgesm a rather quick process last night. then it was couch time!! my favorite part of the day....it is thursday which means we are kinda tv junkies. first survivor and then the office...

then it was work time again. this is when i put away the clean, dry dishes and pack lunches for the next day. hubby was flipping through the channels - most likely looking for the news when i hear this:

hubby: "honey, your boyfriend is on tv?"

me: "what"

hubby: "isn't this daughtry?"

me: quickly walking into the room "why yes, it is! wow!"

so for the next hour i sat and watched my obsession perform in a live concert. well, obviously it was recorded live and i'm watching the recording....but it was an hour long event! he sang all the great songs and a few new ones i loved. he was still just as good as ever. still totally in love with his wife - yes, i can tell those things from watching him sing. and it was fun. while i watched, hubby slept with remote in hand! when it was over, i gave him a kiss and told him it was time for bed!!

it is a rare thing for me to stay up late. usually hubby gets involved in some history show on pbs and i sleep on the couch...but last night pbs was all mine and i have a renewed interest in that station - they played daughtry!!!!!

me, on politics

i despise politics. i never liked it, but i married a man fascinated with it. a man who wanted to be part of it all...and was, briefly. boy were our eyes opened... anyways...it seems like this election has several hot button topics. one of which is universal healthcare. my cousin started a blog called politics for mom and there have been several heated debates going on. i was reading several comments on healthcare. and frankly i was bothered! now, i don't know that a strict universal healthcare is the answer, but i do know that we have now doesn't work for the average person. here is our story.... hubby worked in a small business - 3 employees at the most that i can remember. we paid 1/2 our insurance..until it came to the point where our half each month was twice what we would pay if we were on our own. but for the owner it saved him money. so he agreed to cover ours in full. we were very grateful. i also know at times, that because of the healthcare cost, it was a struggle f...

the "calling"

okay - so it's been awhile since i've ranted...and it's time! it is beautiful outside and i'm sitting inside my makeshift office at the church. i am lucky enough to have a door that opens to the outside so it is wide open and i'm loving that. but as i'm working here today i feel the need to rant so enjoy.... being in my position i often have to ask people to help out. you know, volunteer to teach or work in the nursery or teach or hang out with the kids, you know - volunteer! i love all the responses i get. i am particularly fond of the "i don't like kids one" - it doesn't go over real well with me when they have 3 of their own. hmm??? but the one that really gets my goat is the "i don't feel called to that." argh...really!?!?!!?!? well, i didn't feel called to wipe my kids bottoms either, but it is a good thing i did it anyways. surprisingly, everyone feels called to the waterpark though! now, let me back up a ...
