a good day, yes, a good day!

i had been thinking all week about today. i knew hubby was going to be gone for most of it, and lately i look forward to the days of being alone in my house. i also knew i had a lot of work to do, but last night decided i needed to just enjoy today - forget the work and everything about it and just be me today!

so i woke up this morning with a happy heart! had a cup of coffee and put the kids on the bus. enjoyed some oatmeal and read my bible. helped hubby get ready to leave. then took a trash bag, pledge, a dustrag, and my vacuum cleaner up to mapboy's bedroom! i stood there and smiled. this was definitely going to be a good day!

i start with the bed. you know, i think i will just watch all the sheets. and guess what? i can hang them on the clothes line to dry. a good day! 3 hours later i emerge....one full garbage bag and 2 boxes of garage sale items sat at the top of the stairs. i had collected an entire canning jar of pencils, found the missing library book (lost since november), found several of princesses barrettes, and organized all the toys to their happy homes. i turned and looked - oh yeah!! a good day!

then, since i have it out, i might as well go ahead and dust and vacuum the rest of the upstairs. and since i have my bed all torn apart maybe i'll pull that out from the wall and get behind it. ahh...a really good day!

hmm...is that the noon siren i hear? well, maybe if i just clean this closet out a little then i'll be done. ah...much better! a super good day!

lunch - my favorite, grilled cheese with grape jelly. go ahead and say gross. it is just how i was raised! a few grapes and a tall glass of water. good day...

i think i'll read a while. so i cuddle up with a good book i've been wanting to get back to and spend the next 1/2 hour lost in the Scottish Highlands in the 1770's! good day...

you know, i haven't showered yet and it is beautiful - i think i'll run. i feel so good i decide to run the blueberry stomp route. i've dreamed of doing this race for about 5 years and this is the year. i head out with my ipod (a little daughtery, tomlin, green day, and country) 32 minutes later i return home!!! yes, 32 minutes!! crazy!!! what a GREAT DAY!!!

now, i have time to catch a shower, get the kids, makes us some smoothies, play with the kiddos and then tonight - it's girls craft night!!

yes, today has been good...thank you God, for small delights and smiling with me!

me, on politics

i despise politics. i never liked it, but i married a man fascinated with it. a man who wanted to be part of it all...and was, briefly. boy were our eyes opened... anyways...it seems like this election has several hot button topics. one of which is universal healthcare. my cousin started a blog called politics for mom and there have been several heated debates going on. i was reading several comments on healthcare. and frankly i was bothered! now, i don't know that a strict universal healthcare is the answer, but i do know that we have now doesn't work for the average person. here is our story.... hubby worked in a small business - 3 employees at the most that i can remember. we paid 1/2 our insurance..until it came to the point where our half each month was twice what we would pay if we were on our own. but for the owner it saved him money. so he agreed to cover ours in full. we were very grateful. i also know at times, that because of the healthcare cost, it was a struggle f...

the "calling"

okay - so it's been awhile since i've ranted...and it's time! it is beautiful outside and i'm sitting inside my makeshift office at the church. i am lucky enough to have a door that opens to the outside so it is wide open and i'm loving that. but as i'm working here today i feel the need to rant so enjoy.... being in my position i often have to ask people to help out. you know, volunteer to teach or work in the nursery or teach or hang out with the kids, you know - volunteer! i love all the responses i get. i am particularly fond of the "i don't like kids one" - it doesn't go over real well with me when they have 3 of their own. hmm??? but the one that really gets my goat is the "i don't feel called to that." argh...really!?!?!!?!? well, i didn't feel called to wipe my kids bottoms either, but it is a good thing i did it anyways. surprisingly, everyone feels called to the waterpark though! now, let me back up a ...
